So we took 32 famous couples, pulled each partner's public date of birth, and calculated the exact gap down to the day using the same calendar math as our Age Difference Calculator. The pattern that came out is more interesting than any single couple.

The headline numbers

Across all 32 couples in our celebrity age gaps index:

• Average age gap: 7.7 years
• Median age gap: 4.4 years
• Widest: Céline Dion and René Angélil — 26 years (9,570 days)
• Closest: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift — just 69 days

That gap between the average (7.7) and the median (4.4) is the first clue. A handful of very large gaps drag the average up, while most couples actually sit much closer together. Half of the couples are within about four and a half years of each other.

Celebrities skew older-partnered than the rest of us

Here's the part that surprised us. In the general population, the average age difference between spouses is only about two to three years, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Our famous couples average 7.7 years — roughly three times wider.

And the tail is heavy: 12 of the 32 couples (37.5%) have a gap of 10 years or more. In everyday life, a double-digit gap is fairly rare. Among celebrities it's almost the norm. Whether that's about wealth, career timelines, or simply visibility, the spotlight clearly skews toward wider gaps. At the other end, four couples were born in the same calendar year:

• Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson — 109 days apart
• Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban — 128 days apart
• Prince William & Kate Middleton — 163 days apart

And one couple shares the rarest coincidence of all: Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were both born on September 25 — exactly 25 years apart, to the day.
